MP Motorsport, led by Martin Pavier, achieved their first outright win on Sunday 8th September, taking first position overall on the Vale of York Stages Rally.
Conditions were extremely dusty on the first three stages, with the organisers asking that all competitors drive with their lights on. After the first stage of the day MP Motorsport were third overall, then they attacked stage two and moved up to second place overall with just three seconds separating them from the leaders.
On stage three the team pushed again and took the lead in the rally. During stage seven they broke a front drive shaft but still managed to complete the stage dropping only eight seconds to Dave Hornbrook who was in second place and who had reduced MP Motorsport’s advantage to just 17 seconds. The service crew were able to change the driveshaft between stages and they set about the final stage knowing they just needed a good clean run to secure their first outright win. The team drove with a certain amount of caution but still set the fastest time for the stage, extending their overall lead by 19 seconds.
The team would like to say a massive thank you to all their sponsors for their fantastic support this year.
